Application
The voltage detection system ( VDS ) is used in medium voltage switchgears. The detection system is standardized according to IEC 61243 (VDE 0682 part 415 ). These systems are used to detect the voltage situation and to compare the phases in medium voltage switchgears with HR-System.
General Description
The voltage detection system with a panel-mounted reading instrument consists of 4 elements:
1. capacitive insulator / lead-in with capacitive pick-up
2. connection cables
3. capacitive voltage ledge
4. reading instrument

| The coupling electrode (6) capacitively picks up the voltage, which is then transmitted to the measuring point (8). Overvoltage arresters (10) are installed to protect the system. A balancing capacitor (11) limits the voltage respectively the current at the measuring point. |
