Application
The short circuit indicator is used in radial overhead line networks.
The indicator is monitoring the network
continuously for short circuits. Short circuits are indicated via 6
pcs. of LED (for night operation) and via a red luminous area (for day
operation).
The FLA is equipped with a radio module.
With the help of a remote control the trip current,
the minimum impulse duration, the reset time and reset mode can be
adjusted during the current operation without demounting the
instrument. In addition, the instrument can be tested via the remote
control. |

General
Description
The
short circuit indicator type FLA3 is an instrument which is mounted
directly on the overhead line.
The instrument can be installed when the overhead line is alive. The
instrument can be mounted on round cables with a diameter of 8 - 28mm. The dimensions of the instrument are:
diameter 70mm with the total height of 170mm.
The housing is hermetically sealed and complies with the protection
class IP 67.
In stand-by mode, the power supply of
the FLA3 is performed via an inductive pick-up from the high voltage
conductor.
In the indication mode, the instrument is supplied by a lithium
battery. To avoid a wrong indication,
short current peaks of the net can be filtered.
A minimum impulse duration can be
adjusted, so that short current peaks up to the adjusted value
do not
trigger a short circuit indication. The
short circuit indicator can be reset after a preadjusted time delay,
after restarting the network and manually with the help of a remote control.
The FLA3 indicates
faults via 6 pcs. of blinking LED for night operation and via red areas
(signal colour) for day operation. This signal colour
is clearly visible from long distances.
The short circuit indicator can be adjusted on site every time via a
remote control
(i.e. without demounting the instrument).
The functional values are freely selectable within the following range:
a) reset time delay: 30 min - 720 min (12 hours) in steps of 30 min
b) reset via recovering current can be activated or disabled
c) operating current short circuit:
- 40 A - 1500 A in steps of 20 A
- or automatic adaption of the trip
threshold dependent on the service current
d) minimum impulse duration: 40 ms - 300 ms in steps of 20 ms
Furthermore, it is possible to read off the service
current of the conductor with the help of the remote control!
