Design
The short circuit indicator type FLA3 is a single instrument. It
consists of a housing which incorporates the electronics including the
power supply, the LEDs and the red luminous area for visual indication
as well as a radio module (enabling the communication with the remote control). The housing
provides a self-fixing clamp which ensures an easy assembly onto the high voltage conductor.
The battery can be exchanged via a screw
cap.
Function
The
short circuit indicator is installed on overhead lines. The current is
continously measured and evaluated. In case the current exceeds the
preadjusted operating value, a short circuit will be indicated.
Alternatively, the "automatic mode" can be chosen via the remote
control. In this mode, the operating value is automatically adapted to
the service current.
With the help of the remote control, it is possible to adjust an
operating value which is 1.5 times to 5 times as high as the service
current.
Apart from this, one can adjust a minimum impulse duration via the
remote control. Advantage: short current peaks (e.g. caused by switching currents shorter than 60 ms) will not be
indicated as a fault.
Selectable are time limits between 40 ms and 300 ms.
The reset time can be adjusted in steps of 30 min between 30 min and
720 min with the help
of the remote control.
During this time there are 6 LEDs blinking once per second.
Simultaneously, a mechanical rotating plate is moved which lets a red
area become visible. The position of the rotating plate is periodically
checked by a light barrier.
(This serves to avoid a faulty indication and ensures the function of
the rotating plate.) In addition to the reset via time, an reset via recovering service current is also possible. In case this
mode is activated,
the FLA3 will reset at a service current of a few
amps.
Via the remote control all the adjustments of the FLA3 can be
programmed or simply read off.
The remote control also provides the facility to trigger a self-check
and a reset at the reading instrument. Above this, the remote control serves to indicate the service current of the
conductor!
The user has to know which FLA3 indicator he is communicating with. For
this reason, there is an identifying number from 1 to 9 printed on each FLA3.
Please observe that within the tuning range of the remote control
(radius ca. 100 m) only one instrument with the same number can be used.
Assembling
It is possible to install the short circuit indicator type FLA3 while
the overhead line is alive. First, the indicator is connected to an operating rod (DIN 57681-1) with an adapter. With this operating rod
the indicator is moved up to the overhead line from the bottom, so that the overhead line can be inserted into the opening
of the housing.
The mounting of the adapter onto the operating rod differs depending on the different versions of the
operating rods.
