Application
The short circuit indicator type FA is used in
distribution networks with a radial layout and one input. The use of this indicator is recommendable when the safety of labour shall be improved, in case of sight disturbance or under similar circumstances.
The short circuit indicator operates without any
auxiliary power supply.
The sensors must be installed on screened and
earthed cables.

Short Circuit Indicator type FA
General Description
The short circuit indicator type FA consists of a reading instrument and the “detecting set”.
There are two versions regarding the operating point:
Version A operating current 20 ... 300A
Version B operating current 300 ... 1500A
The reading instrument is available as a surface mounted instrument (1) or a panel mounted instrument.(2)
The mechanics and electronics operating the indication flag are placed within the reading instrument. The short circuit indication of the single sensors is carried out by one blinking lamp (on special request versions with an indication flag for each cable are available). Each instrument is available with a remote indication contact.
The “detecting set” consists of three single sensors for short circuit detection and an other sensor for generating the operating power. The outputs of the sensors are combined in one junction. This joint cable (standard length 2500mm / other lengths on request) is connected to the reading instrument.
The sensors are mounted onto the cables with a frame tape. This frame tape is infinitely variable and can be
adjusted to a cable diameter of 15 to 60mm (precision: +/- 20%; if the cable diameter / cable type is specified: +/-10%).
The operating point has to be adjusted at the sensors.
