Application
The
short circuit indicator type SFM is particularly suitable for
compact-switchgears.
It is used in medium voltage radial networks with one input.
The fault is indicated via flags.
The indication is reset via a magnetic system.
The remote reset can be accomplished as a
permanent contact (standard) or as a selfwiping
contact (adjustable).
The contacts are potential-free.
The reading instrument of
the short circuit indicator type SFM is available as a panel-mounted
instrument. The design of the reading instrument is the same for every
switchgear. Only the sensors are adapted to the specific type of
switchgear. |

General Description
This
short circuit indicator needs no auxiliary power for its operation,
because the power for operating the flag indication is gained from the
short circuit current.
After the short circuit has occured, the indication will stay active
until it is reset manually.
The indication is reset via a magnetic system.
Every instrument has specific trip currents which are preadjusted.
Standard adjustments: 250 / 400 / 600 / 800 / 1000 A
Each of these trip currents can be adjusted on site via DIP-switches.
(Other values for trip current are available for extra charge.)
The remote reset can be adjusted either as a permanent contact or as a
self-wiping contact.
These options can be chosen on site via a DIP switch.
The closing time of the self-wiping contact can be adjusted at our
workshop between 10 to 150 ms.
