| Application The Earth Fault Indicator EFL is used in medium voltage networks with radial layout and one input. The minimum earth fault current must be 20 A (solidly earthed neutral or resistance earthed networks). The earth fault indicator should be installed in each branch of the network. |

| General Description The earth fault indicator type EFL consists of a reading instrument (1), a sensor (2) and a connecting cable (3). The reading instrument can be used as a surface-mounted or as a panel-mounted instrument (protection class IP65). The reading instrument is supplied by a lithium battery (10 years service time with 1000 hours blinking time). The reading instrument is manufactured in two versions: a) version "L": This instrument is adjusted to one operating point. b) version "S": This instrument has three operating points (choosable between 10 and 300 A) which have to be specified with the client's order. These values can be adjusted on site. The reading instrument is equipped with a LED, which blinks when the adjusted operating point has been reached or exceeded. The indication resets after a preadjusted time (possible are three values: 1-2-4h). However, the indicator can be reset any time with a magnet, which must be placed at a marked spot. The instrument has a test function. By request, the instrument can be equipped with a relay for remote indication. The sensor consists of a black plastic housing which incorporates the elements for processing the earth fault current. The housing is fully sealed (IP67). The sensor is mounted on the cable with an infinitely variable plastic belt. In order to pick up the current, a multilayer steel belt is laid around the cable. The steel belt is plastic-coated (indication accuracy +/- 10%). The sensor is connected to the reading instrument via cable (standard length: 3000mm). special orders: 1) other operating points than standard values 2) other reset-times than standard values 3) length of minimum impulse duration 4) lenght of sensor cable |
