Application
The earth fault and short circuit indicator type EKS3.2 is a combined
instrument for detecting earth faults and short circuits.
This indicator is used in medium voltage radial networks with one
input. The earth fault current in resistance-earthed or solidly earthed
neutral systems must be 10 A as a minimum. This indication system
should be installed in each branch of the network.
The fault can be indicated as
follows:
a) short circuit - with one LED for each core
b) earth fault - with one LED
c) one remote indication for earth fault and short
circuit via a potential-free relay contact.

General
Description
The
indicator is available as a panel-mounted (1) or surface- mounted (2)
device. The indicator set consists of one reading instrument (1,2),
four sensors (3) and copper cables (4).
The earth fault- and short
circuit indicator summarizes two ways of fault search:
1.) detection of short circuits
2.) detection of earth faults.

| The
short circuit sensors and the earth fault sensor must be installed on
screened, earthed cables.
The Versions "E"
and "F" of the earth fault- and short circuit indicator type EKS3.2 are
constructed identically. The difference is the number of operating
points for earth fault and / or short circuit indication which can be
chosen (confer table).
Every instrument is equipped
with a contact for remote indication as a permanent contact (1 x
changer). (Wipper contact is availabe by special request.).
