Application
This earth fault and short circuit indicator is a combined instrument
for detecting earth fault and short circuits.
This indicator operates in medium voltage radial networks with one
input. The earth fault current in resistance- earthed or fixed earthed
networks must be 20 A as a minimum (10 A with special version).
This indication system should be installed at all branch points and
passing lines of the network.
The special feature of this instrument is
that the connections between the sensors and the reading instrument are
done via light mains. This is an advantage because the sensors can be
mounted directly in the unscreened area of the cable. Accordingly, the
screen does not have to be led back through the frame, respectively
through the steel tape.

General
Description
The indicator is available as a panel-mounted instrument.
The indicator set consists of one reading instrument,
four sensors and four fibre optic cables.
The earth fault- and short
circuit indicator summarizes two ways of fault search:
1.) detection of short circuits
2.) detection of earth faults.

The
fault can be indicated as follows:
a) type EKL8000-1: earth fault and short circuit via one LED each
b) type EKL8000-3: short circuit via one LED for each core, one LED for
earth fault for a) and b): remote indication for earth fault and short
circuit via one relay contact. |

The
Versions "E" and "F" of the earth fault- and short circuit indicator
type EKL 8000 are constructed identically.
The difference is the number of operating points for earth fault and /
or short circuit indication which can be chosen (confer table).
Every instrument is equipped
with a contact for remote indication as a permanent contact (1 x
changer).
(Wipper contact is availabe by special request.)
